Sinus lifting; Sinus elevation is the process of lifting. The air spaces in the skull, which have functions such as reducing the weight of our head and producing sounds properly, are called sinuses. Some of the sinuses are located in areas adjacent to our teeth. Generally, when the teeth in the rear area of the upper jaw (maxilla) are lost and the necessary prostheses are not replaced in time, the distance between the sinus wall and the highest point of the jaw bone becomes shorter and there is not enough bone to place implants in this area. The process of surgically elevating the sinus floor in order to increase the decreasing amount of bone is called sinus lifting.
There are two types of sinus lifting methods: closed and open sinus lifting:
Open sinus lifting technique: It is the technique preferred in cases where the bone height is 3-4 mm and below and aims to form more bone.
Closed. sinus lifting technique: It is a technique that is applied in cases where there is a bone height of 5 mm or more and also allows the placement of the implant.
In cases where there is sufficient bone volume, the implant can be applied in the same session.
